Get the potbelly stove ready. What problems with gas and heat may there be in the new winter season?

The aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine strengthened the risks of a stable passage of the fall season. Experts allow not only a limited power supply, but also a connection to the supply of natural gas in other regions.

In Ukraine, preparations for the military autumn-winter period are in full swing. As reported by Prime Minister Denis Shmigal, Ukraine, like Europe, is preparing for the most difficult fall season.

“Europe is reacting to energetic calls, to the complexity of the burning season in connection with the war in Ukraine and the crisis caused by the Russian Federation. “We’re going through the long stretch of the autumn-winter period,” says Denis Shmigal.

According to the Ministry of Regional Development, preparations for the fall season are being carried out according to plan, and the readiness level of housing facilities has already reached 72%, thermal measures - 74%. There is also an active renewal of the damaged infrastructure. According to the ministry, Ukraine has already accumulated 12.6 billion cubic meters of gas and 1.89 million tons of coal. And the regions have been given comprehensive plans for rapid response to crisis situations that may arise as the autumn-winter period passes.

How can we exhaust gas reserves to provide heat in Ukrainian cabins?

The head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, appreciates that Ukraine needs to pump at least 15 billion cubic meters of gas into underground reservoirs to successfully complete the burning season before the end of the year. And Denis Shmigal, on the cob of cherries, ordered Naftogaz to increase its reserves to 19 billion cubic meters. Recently, in an interview with NV, Vitrenko said that before the middle of the year it is “unrealistic” to pump 19 billion cubic meters into the underground gas reservoirs (underground gas reservoirs).

"The price, which is significant, is to ensure that the crisis scenario is adequately adjusted to the existing gas reserves. So that the crisis events that the system allows (it does not predict, but assumes), are insured by a certain balance and gas,” said Vitrenko.

At the moment, Ukraine already has approximately 12.5 billion cubic meters of gas, and experts say that the pumping will continue. It is truly impossible to reach the stated obligation. It is entirely possible that a smaller reserve of edges can be used for heat protection.

Mensh optimistic Yuriy Korolchuk, expert at the Institute of Energy Strategies. In other words, the key risk that could result from a national gas shortage for the population is the risk of a decrease in the supply of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system.

Unfortunately, not all villages have the ability to heat with wood, since the country has undergone gasification. Since the transit of Russian gas is expected, and we will have 15 billion cubic meters of gas at the gas station, then we will not be able to drain, but with grief we will have to drain 19 billion cubic meters. You can try turning off the gas, but it’s difficult, but you can try turning off the gas for a certain period. There is already a gas shortage,” says Yuriy Korolchuk.
